Bassoon
Quartet is founded by professor Bogumil Gadawski. He graduated from
the Frederic Chopin Higher College of Music (now the Frederic Chopin
Academy of Music) in Warsaw. He has been affiliated with his Alma Mater
for more than 30 years. He was Dean of the Department of Orchestra
Instruments in 1984 - 1990. He was twice head of the Chair of Woodwind
and Brass Instruments. In 1990 - 1983 he was vice - rector of the AMFC.
He is now full professor and teaches the bassoon and is also the vice -
dean.
His students have won first prizes at Polish and international
competitions. Bogumil Gadawski himself won First Prize at the Polish
National Festival in Gdansk (1964). He also won merit at the Chamber
Orchestra Competition in Katowice. Bogumil Gadawski not only teaches at
the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music. He has also been a member of the
Great Theatre Orchestra in Warsaw (the Warsaw opera orchestra) where he
has been solo bassoonist since 1962 and head of the bassoon section
since 2002.
Bogumil Gadawski performs solo and with chamber orchestras in Poland and
abroad.
